The best day trip from Brisbane..

One of the best things about south-east Queensland is it’s abundance of things to do, and places to see!

Tourism Australia recently released its stats on what motivates international tourists to travel to the country, with 'Nature and Wildlife' ranking among the top, and 'Aquatic and Coastal' experiences having the highest level of appeal.

But it’s not only the international tourists, but us Aussies too that are continually inspired and motivated to get out there and check out what our incredible land (and sea) has to offer.

It’s not hard to imagine why, but did you know that one of the top things people want to do whilst in Australia is to see whales? Whale watching is an incredible experience that many people have on their bucket lists.. A once in a lifetime experience for many, but for us lucky southeast Queenslanders, an opportunity we have for 6 months of the year!

The whales come in to check out our curious customers.

There are few places in Australia where you can actually get up close and personal with whales, but it’s here on the Gold Coast that boasts some of the best whale watching conditions around the world!

It’s called ‘Surfer’s Paradise’, but really it’s a whale watchers paradise! With whale watching tours departing from the heart of Surfers Paradise up to 5 times a day, you can’t get any better than that! Pick from the 7am, 8.30am, 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm tours, each running for 3 hrs and 15 mins.

And for all those of you in Brisbane.. Don’t be alarmed, we have just the tour for you..

Whales in Paradise offer return transfers from Brisbane that runs once daily, offering a fantastic day trip to the famous Glitter Strip, and Humpback Highway.

The day trip from Brisbane offers return transfers from Hotel Jen, Rydges at Southbank and Bunk Backpackers. Your friendly bus driver is also one of your crew members who will join you out on the open ocean, so don’t forget to ask them for the latest whale updates as you travel down the coast - they keep their finger on the ocean’s pulse! Upon arrival, you are greeted at check in with a big smile by one of our reservation staff, and provided a light lunch pack to keep energy levels high during your whale watching tour. Trust me, you’ll need it!!

As you board our vessel you will notice it’s water level viewing deck, as well as the front, and sun deck for more optimal whale watching, with plenty of rail side positioning available to ensure that perfect shot! Relax and enjoy your tea, coffee and biscuits as we cruise on past the homes of the rich and famous, before heading on out to the famous Humpback Highway.

Out on the open ocean, your trusty skipper and crew keep an eagle eye out for the whales, and it’s not long before you hear ‘there she blows!’. Keep your eyes peeled and camera steady while we head on over to the whales, where they are known to breach, spy hop, slap their fins and tails and even mug the boat! And if you haven’t ever heard of a whelfie, then today’s your day.. If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, read about whelfies here!

After a whaley good time out on the boat, you’ll may have worked up an appetite and be keen to check out the famous Surfers Paradise glitter strip for up to 2 hours. A short 2 minute walk will have you in the hussel and bussel of Cavill Avenue where you can hit the beach, grab a delicious lunch at one of many restaurants, shop up a storm with a bit of retail therapy or just wander the streets of Surfers Paradise before jumping back on the bus back to Brisbane.

There’s no better place to see and experience whales than a tour out with Whales in Paradise! Trust me, you’ll have a whale of a day, and a whale of a tale to tell all your friends and family!
